The Adjectives

There exist different types of adjectives, today I will explain the most important types and some examples.

Types of adjectives:

  1. Possessive Adjectives: Are used to indicate possession. For this adjectives, we use: Possessive Pronouns: My, Your, His, Her, Its, Our and Their.
Example: 
Your dog walks in the street.
That is my home.


     2. Demonstrative Adjectives: Indicate proximity and remoteness of the noun:

Example: 
These apples...
This cats...
Look at that building.


    3. Numbers Adjectives:When it answers the question “How many?”

Example: 
He ate 23 hot dogs during the contest, and was sick afterwards.


   4. Interrogative Adjectives: We used the wh question, for example we need: What,Which and Whose.

Example: What book are you reading?



Degrees of Adjectives:
  • Positive Degree:  Simplest degree of quality.
           Small, Smart, Short, Fat, and others....

  • Comparative Degree: 
Superiority: Smaller than..., shorter than...
Equality: ...as smart as...
Inferiority: Less fat than...

  • Superlative Degree: Greater degree of a quality among many people or things
